Healing starts here
Caroline Roarty Counseling
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor working with individual clients across New York. I create a warm, welcoming space where you feel understood and supported. Together, we’ll build lasting change.
Welcome,
My name is Caroline, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in New York. I specialize in supporting driven professionals, young adults, and college students who are navigating everything from relationships to identity.
Many of my clients first seek therapy because they feel anxious, depressed, disconnected from others, or stuck in old patterns. Through therapy, that can change.
Together we’ll work to build a life that feels authentic and connected.
I work closely with women and LGBTQ+ individuals, and I am committed to providing an affirming, supportive space where all parts of you are welcome.
I love my work as a therapist, and feel honored to support clients in their healing journeys. Reach out to schedule a consultation, and let’s see if we’re a good fit.
I look forward to working with you!
Support Tailored to Your Needs
Individual therapy offers you a space to slow down, reflect, and better understand yourself. When it comes to your mental health, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
My approach blends person-centered and psychodynamic therapy with CBT, ACT, mindfulness, and somatic techniques. I also offer EMDR to help you work through distressing memories and the beliefs connected to them.
Together, we can work on:
Managing anxiety and overthinking
Working through depression, low motivation, and loneliness
Navigating life transitions, such as starting college, a new job, or moving to a new city
Setting boundaries and expressing your needs in relationships
Building self-worth and resilience
Understanding past experiences that shape how you feel, respond, and relate to others today
Processing trauma or distressing experiences
I offer 50-minute virtual sessions through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform for clients across New York.
EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a structured therapy that helps people work through distressing experiences and the beliefs connected to them. Treatment follows eight phases beginning with a thorough history taking, identifying treatment goals, and developing tools to help you stay grounded and manage distress. During the active reprocessing stage, you will be instructed to bring a memory to mind while engaging in guided eye movements, tapping, or another form of bilateral stimulation.
The aim of reprocessing is to reduce the emotional intensity of the target memory while developing a more balanced, compassionate understanding of yourself and what happened. Through this process, negative beliefs such as “I’m not good enough” can change to more positive ones, such as “I am good enough.” Even though the memory is still there, it will no longer carry the same emotional weight.

My full session fee is $200 for a 45–50 minute therapy session. Intake sessions are 55 minutes and are charged at the same rate.
I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on financial need, and I’m happy to discuss options during your consultation call.

I am considered an out-of-network (OON) provider and do not accept insurance. Upon your request, I will provide you with a “superbill” for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. You are responsible for communicating with your insurance company and understanding your plan's benefits and limitations.
-
If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to better understand your coverage. You can call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions:
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
What is my deductible, and how much has been met?
What percentage of each session is reimbursed? Is this percentage based on an allowed amount?
Is there a limit to the number of sessions covered?
How do I submit claims for reimbursement?
You can also review your “Summary of Benefits” document in your insurance portal for out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage.
I’m happy to provide you with a monthly superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

Sessions with me happen once a week on the same day and time. Consistent therapy leads to the best results, and having a set time allows me to keep a dedicated space open for you.
Alternative session frequency and scheduling options can be discussed as needed.

Yes! EMDR can be done online. You’ll need to attend sessions in a private space, have a stable internet connection, and bring sticky notes.

Yes, I work with older teens, generally ages 16 and up, including those getting ready for college and navigating young adulthood. My approach tends to work best for teens who are curious about therapy and are open to talking about their thoughts and feelings.
I value working collaboratively with parents while also protecting teens’ privacy and trust. In therapy, it’s important to support teens’ growing independence and give them a space where they can speak openly knowing our conversations will be kept private. Before we begin, we’ll talk through confidentiality and its limits, including safety concerns and other situations where information may need to be shared, so parents and teens both know what to expect.
If this sounds like a fit for you or your family, you’re welcome to schedule a consultation. I’m happy to meet separately with a parent and with the client to hear what each person is hoping for and see whether working together feels like a good fit.

Your privacy is a priority in our work together. I do not record therapy sessions or use AI-powered transcription, note-taking, or recording tools during our sessions. Our conversations are confidential, and I take every reasonable precaution to protect your personal information and maintain a private, secure therapeutic space.
I believe therapy should be a place where you can speak openly, knowing that your words are not being overheard by another person, or recorded and processed by AI.
